Bauch’s Sauerkraut and Sausage Soup

2 c. sauerkraut, finely chopped

4 c. water

1 onion, finely chopped

3 T. bacon fat

1/2 tsp. paprika

1/2 # sausage

3 T. flour


1Boil sauerkraut in water until tender. Brown onion in bacon fat; add paprika.

2Shape sausage into tiny balls and brown in fat. Remove fat from boining sauerkraut.

3Stir flour into fat remaining in the pan.

4Thin with a cup of the broth and stir until thick.

5Combine with sauerkraut. Heat to boiling and serve topped with a tablespoon of sour cream.

6This soup is delicious!!! Dont leave out the sour cream.
