Best Sauerkraut Ever

Ingredients

  • 3 cans sauerkraut
  • 1 pound bacon
  • 4 diced onions
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • salt & pepper to taste

Method

Step 1

Put sauerkraut in a colander and lightly rinse.

Step 2

Squeeze the sauerkraut well and place in a roaster.

Step 3

Fry bacon until crisp, crumble over sauerkraut.

Step 4

Saute diced onions in bacon drippings until golden brown, add the stick of margarine cook until it's melted. Pour over sauerkraut.

Step 5

Salt & pepper to taste, mix well.

Step 6

Cover roaster and place in a 350o oven for at least an hour stirring occasionally.

Step 7

Hints.... if you like a more tart sauerkraut put in a little vinegar. If you like a sweeter taste add a little brown sugar.
