Gratin Dish(Potatoes &Cabbage)

Ingredients

1-Head of Cabbage

1lb of Bacon

2 tablespoons of butter- plus more for greasing gratin dish

2lbs Baking Potatoe, unpeeled and thinly sliced(about 1/8 inch)

2 1/2 cups heavy cream

2 cups of parmesan

salt & pepper

1/4 cup fresh chives to garnish-optional

Directions

1Pre-heat oven to 375

2Fry bacon, drain on paper towels, set aside.

3Wash cabbage and pat dry. Shred cabbage(slice) add 1 tablespoon of butter to bacon grease, stir till melted.

4Add cabbage, slowly let cabbabe wilt.(usally 30min).

5Crumble bacon up and add in with cabbage, add salt & pepper. Remove from heat.

6Generously butter the bottom and sides of an oven proof casserole dish.

7In a large bowl combine potatoes, 1 1/2 cups of cream, 1 cup of parmesan, mix well.

8Using your hands, place a layer of potatoes in dish, add a layer of cabbage, sprinkle with parmesan and repeat layers.

9Pour remaining 1 cup of cream over dish, sprinkle with remaining parmesan.

10Cover dish with aluminum foil, bake 1 hour. Remove foil and bake 30 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
