Kraut and Bacon Bake

Ingredients

2 (28 oz. each) cans kraut

1 3/4 c. sugar

6-8 strips of bacon

Directions

1Drain sauerkraut well.

2Mix sugar and kraut well.

3Pour into large casserole dish.

4Lay strips of bacon over the top of the sauerkraut. The bacon will shrink a bit, so lay the strips close together, but not touching. (If they are touching, they may bake together as one big piece of bacon.)

5Bake in a 275-300 degree F. oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the bacon is really brown and the sauerkraut/sugar has caramelized.
