Pork Chops and Sauerkraut

  • 1 bag sauerkraut - drained and rinsed
  • 4 pork chops
  • 6 slices of bacon
  • 1 small to med Idaho potato - peeled and shredded
  • 1 small to med onion - peeled and shredded
  • black pepper to taste
  • 2-3 cups water


Step 1

While kraut is draining, fry bacon until crispy; remove bacon from pan drain grease, leaving about two tablespoons; add potato and onion to bacon grease and saute 2-3 minutes - stirring frequently.

Step 2

Place drained and rinsed kraut in roasting pan; add potato & onion mixture; crumble bacon and stir into kraut, potato, onion mixture.

Step 3

In same pan you cooked bacon, brown chops on both sides and place on top of kraut in roasting pan. Add water and place in 350° oven and cook for one hour or till chops are done.

Step 4

Serve with buttered, boiled potatoes.
