Zel's Sausage and Sauerkraut

8 ounces fresh button mushrooms
1 large yellow onion
4 tablespoons of butter
1 pound smoked garlic sausage
salt & pepper to taste
2 cans of suaerkraut

  1. Boil smoked garlic sausage for about 1/2 hour. Drain water and remove sausage from pot.
     
  2. Rough chop onions and saute in same pot with butter til starting to become translucent.
     
  3. Add sliced fresh mushrooms to onions and cook until they begin to render their water.
     
  4. Add sauerkraut to onions and mushrooms. Add 1 cup of water. Salt and pepper to taste. Cover pot.
     
  5. Heat sauerkraut, onions, and mushroom mixture thouroughly and then add smoked garlic sausage.
     
  6. Cook until water almost evaporates.

Cook Time: 1 hour
