Croatian Bean Soup

1 bag beans (navy, great Northern, etc)
2 or 3 ham hocks (or other desired pork or ham)
1 large can sauerkraut
Potatoes (optional)
Carrots (optional)
Vinegar to taste
Ground pepper to taste
Water
- Soak beans overnight, rinse, put in pot, and cover with water.
- Add meat to pot. If using potatoes or carrots, add to pot.
- Add sauerkraut. I always drain it, but if you don't, you might not need the vinegar.
- Simmer for several hours until soup has thickened.
- Add vinegar and lots of pepper to taste.
- Enjoy!
