Best Sauerkraut Ever
Servings: 15+

3 cans sauerkraut
1 pound bacon
4 diced onions
1 stick margarine
2 tablespoons brown sugar
salt & pepper to taste

  1. put sauerkraut in a colander and lightly rinse.
     
  2. squeeze the sauerkraut well and place in a roaster
     
  3. fry bacon until crisp, crumble over sauerkraut
     
  4. saute diced onions in bacon drippings until golden brown, add the stick of margarine cook until it's melted. Pour over sauerkraut
     
  5. salt & pepper to taste, mix well
     
  6. cover roaster and place in a 350o oven for at least an hour stirring occasionally
     
  7. hints .... if you like a more tart sauerkraut put in a little vinegar. If you like a sweeter taste add a little brown sugar

Cook Time: 1 hour
