Simple Kielbalsa and Kraut Servings: 3-4

1 pkg Polish Kielbalsa
1 large can/bag (20 oz) Sauerkraut
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup cold water
large skillet
large cooking pot or crockpot
- cut kielbasa into 1/4 inch slices
- add butter to large skillet, turn on medium heat
- once butter has melted add kielbasa
- sprinkle brown sugar over kielbasa and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally
- drain sauerkraut and rinse with cold water, add to cooking pot(or crockpot) and turn on medium low heat
- add water to kraut, then pour kielbasa on top(do not mix in yet) also pour into pot any liquid that remains in skillet
- cover and let slow cook for 2 hours (additional water may be added during this time if necessary to keep kraut from drying out, usually 1/2-1 cup does the trick)
- after one hour, stir mixture and cook over medium heat for 20 minutes, serve and enjoy
