Kraut and Bacon Bake

Ingredients

2 (28 oz. each) cans kraut
1 3/4 c. sugar
6-8 strips of bacon

Directions

Drain sauerkraut well.

Mix sugar and kraut well.

Pour into large casserole dish.

Lay strips of bacon over the top of the sauerkraut. The bacon will shrink a bit, so lay the strips close together, but not touching. (If they are touching, they may bake together as one big piece of bacon.)

Bake in a 275-300 degree F. oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the bacon is really brown and the sauerkraut/sugar has caramelized.

5 minutes. Cook Time: 2 1/2 to 3 hours
