Grandma's Sauerkraut and Spareribs

Ingredients

3 lbs pork spareribs
1 32 oz jar sauerkraut
1 med. head cabbage thinly shredded
1 med. onion thinly sliced
2 Tblsp brown sugar
4 cups water
1 can chicken broth
1 can/bottle beer with fizz removed, flattened
4 cloves crushed and minced garlic
1 pinch caraway seed

Directions

Wash ribs and smear with garlic and pepper. Brown in oven and set aside.

Place sauerkraut, onion, caraway seed,remaining garlic, brown sugar and cabbage in bottom of roaster

Pour in beer, water, chicken broth and then pepper to taste. Then stir.

Bake covered at 375 degrees for 4 hours. Check at 2 hours to see if liquid is needed.

Place ribs over sauerkraut and cook for 1 hour at 325. Add liquid if needed.

Remove lid and brown for 15 to 20 minutes.

4-6

Time to prepare

30 minutes. Cook 5 hours and 20 minutes
